40daysofdrabbles - so I created this community a few months ago in honor of the old request challenge thing I used to do (of various degrees of success). I am tempted to use the community in the style of

adventdrabbles, 'cause it seems wasteful not do more with it. So I'll probably post "prompts" daily there for the period of Lent.

Lent is starting February 18th, and again I'm not really religious (despite my family wishes), but I figured I could try this challenge again and see if I could exercise my writing abilities a bit more. I'm gonna try and get everything written & posted by Easter, or by end of April at the latest. *fingerscrossed*

You do not have to be a "friend" to request a pairing, but if you are unsure of a fandom/pairing I like - my list is located here (while not complete exactly, it's mostly is) or feel free to check out the tag list on

harpiewriting for ships I've already wrote for. I also technically have a list of Crossover pairings but that hasn't really been edited since 2012 so yeah... Also some of these fandoms are old and I have not recently watched them (or at times finished them).

Request as much as you want since there are so many slots open.... I'll try to pick the ones I know for sure I can/will write & add them to the table. Prompts aren't required. (Or preferably use a prompt from one of my tables I need to write for! :P ) Drabbles will at least be 100 words, maybe more depending on the plot bunnies.

I rarely write dark fics, smut, or super angsty stuff, so if you prefer that, I might not be able to do it? If you have any Do Not Wants, let me know otherwise it'll be whatever my brain can think up.

From this thread at Bluesky - When people ask how to get into GA SF I always say that the right way is via some of those fat "Best Of" short fiction collections.

Long discussion, many comments, mostly agreeing that yep, the way to get people into SF is anthologies, not novels, especially "best of" anthologies rather than whatever theme-of-the-day was popular. Also many people agreeing that many of "the classics" do not hold up today, and "Heinlein juveniles + the Foundation trilogy" is not a good suggestion for a young teen who might be interested in scifi now.

So... if you were building an anthology of The Great Science Fiction, with a focus specifically on non-SF readers who might be interested, what would you put in it?

In honor of the various Femslash events that popped up this February, I figured I'd go with the theme for the pairings prompts. :D I picked two of my favorites.

Managed to finish my

smallfandomfest prompt early this morning (only 2 hours late...).

Signed up for the Fresh Femslash Salad Bar, figured I'd try my hand at it. If anyone has a particular femslash pairing they want to see (and you know I ship it or just ask, you never know - I haven't finished updating that list), feel free to request a pairing. I'm not quite sure what pairings I'll do, but that would be helpful to narrow it down.

Week 1 of the DCU Femslash February Comment Fest has started which is focused on drabble/short form, angst, and/or rarepair.

Wrote up a post at

supergirl_tv about current challenges/events happening, feel free to let me know if I missed any. I'm going to try do that monthly, but who knows.

Also did a "First Kiss" prompt at basically all my communities that I run.

Finished my Hunting Party icons for

tvmovie20in20 - shockingly early! I of course had to use Nick Wechsler's character Oliver for the "Space" prompt in honor of the first role I knew him from Kyle from Roswell. I used also a lot more textures than I normally do with this set so hopefully they turned out ok. XD Seriously if anyone starts watching the show and enjoys it, please let me know! It's a really small fandom so the more the merrier.

So I saw this reblog chain on Tumblr talking about birds in Hollow Knight's world. & other posts showed me that I'm not the only one who say the Faylorn beast as a bird of this universe.

Now, the bugs of HK/Silksong aren't 1-to-1 in appearace or behavior to their IRL counterparts. Matises for example in real life mostly solitary (+ iirc only ants shed their wings in adulthood, and ony if they're a queen). So it's likely if birds exist in the HK/Silksong universe, they'd be diffent too. Now how they look like is likely up to interpetation of the fan, since the closest thing we have to a bird is the Faylorn. But as the reblog chain also stated, many birds (at least large to the bugs + insect eating ones) would be interpated as the dragons of their world.

Now dragons in our world aren't one thing. The main diffrence you may know is the western vs eastern divide in dragons. Where (iirc) the western dragons are brutish beasts to slay with fire, & where eastern dragons are often wise beasts who are more assoiciated with water. Of course there's nuaces that I'm not getting here. But just like how dragons in our world aren't thing, and birds are a diverse clade; birds in the HK/Silksong universe would likely be seem in various ways by diffrent cultural groups & goverments.

So this post talked about tech ideas for a sci-fi setting which is steampunk in nature. Here's my attempt to share my thoughts on it:

Anti-Gravity
iirc Victorians didn't think they'd get to space because at the time, rockets sucked. And so they thought they'd use anti-gravity tech. Now, with steampunk in space we props have to bend a lot of suspension anyway, and magic (even in low amounts) might be needed. Depending on if reletivity still existing, this could be a way for the people to get to space without electricity. Though if they have anti-gravity tech or magic, i can see it also bleeding through their infrastructure & sports. Astronauts IRL do training in underwater to prepare for little to no gravity. So I don't think it's absured for water + wuxia level sports to become popular.

The Gun
Now this idea I adore. Basically one idea early people had for getting into space was, just a big gun & shooting the people into space. My & I discusses many of these ideas & he suggested that the moduals would be water-filled, to avoid the astronauts getting injured. Which basically makes them reverse submarines. Which I think is fitting, with how ocean obssessed victorians were. I think it's fun to think of space as a special ocean or "Sea of Stars", so I'm biased towards this idea. But I'd still like anti-gravity wuxia.

Other Things
Other things that I'd think happen:
- Ladies being banned from space travel for a bit, only to be later allowed. Maybe they even have their own Amelia Earhart.
- People being banned from space travel till 16 cause of how terrorizing it is.
- So many company towns, oh god /intrigued.
- If radios aren't a thing yet, astronauts could possible mostly communicate via morse code + heliographs.

The thing is that we/I read chapter 45 a WHILE back. But remember that it was very cool! A friend told me they stoped watching/reading it cause it bored them. But I'm personally happy with the more slice of life style storytelling the manga has. I like the growth that Chise is undergoing, it makes her more indepedant iirc & I find that wonderful for her! Though I do wonder what she sees in Elias, though that might be me wanting a kismesis for Elias ^_^; & while I still don't like how Joseph was instroduced. I do like that he got given compassion by the narrative. So he's not a one-sided bad guy, even if he's in a coma rn. + to the people who pale ship Chise & Joseph; I see you <>

There was also the problem of me not being able to read the manga for a while. But I should be able to read more soon-ish

Review: Getting better at this. I figure I'll be writing a lot this week, as I have a lot to process. I'm not sure how it's all going to work, but I'll do my best.

Goal 2: Fit better in my clothes / feel better in my body. 58% (15/26)

Review: I'm still working on this, but I have plans, and I think those will work out. I'm having the worst time with actually drinking, which I shouldn't because my skin is practically flaking off, it's so dry (cold!). Stretching is harder than I expected, but still going to happen.

Goal 3: Whittle down my to-do list. 88% (7/8)

Review: This is the only one I didn't improve on, and I'll work to fix that, too. For the most part, though, I'm pretty happy with what I did.

Intentions for the future: G1: I'm going to focus on actually getting my journal written in. Things are going, and I need to process them. If I can make myself write about them. G2: I'm still working on recording everything - that's where a lot of the problem is - and on walking. I'm going to miss a couple of days because of appointments in the morning. And I have some extra stretches for my elbow, and I'm excited to try them out.
